I put the lights on the Christmas tree tonight when I got home from school, I went with all clear/white because the multicolored ones we had were all bad. We had a ton of the clear ones because in years past we used to cover all of the lilac bushes and the trees in the backyard. Looked like a mountain when all was said and done. But it got too expensive for the electricity – though it was hard to stop since we knew all the neighbors enjoyed seeing the lights, plus it was just damn pretty seeing the glow of the lights on the snow in the middle of winter.
So I found those lights in the garage and started in the house with them – the tree got them, the fireplace mantel (entwined with garland) got them, and the entrance to the dining room (also entwined with garland) got them. I have so many more, maybe the bedroom will get them on the headboard of the bed or even the bathroom. Don’t put it past me.
I thought sure Mike wouldn’t like the clear lights as he is big on tradition, he thought multi-colored lights were the only way to go. But I convinced him that once I get our 43 million ornaments on the tree that the clear lights would be the better choice. Just seeing the tree with the lights only has already convinced him. Imagine how what he’ll think when it’s all finished with ornaments added. I think he’ll be pleased and so will I.
